Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Checks

This health check is designed to support the physical, social and emotional wellbeing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander patients of all ages.

Staying on top of your health is important. It helps to identify potential illnesses or chronic diseases before they occur. It is much easier to look at ways to prevent these things from occurring, rather than treatment.

The health check will involve a 30 minute consultation with your doctor and our practice nurse, they will record information about your health, such as your blood pressure, blood sugar levels, height and weight. You might also have a blood test or urine test. Depending on the information you’ve provided, you might have some other tests too. It is also an opportunity to talk about the health of your family.

This health check is available for all ages and are bulked billed for all eligible patients. You can have this health check once every 9 months.

The following vaccines are available for all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander patients under the National Immunisation Program.

Close the gap

Park Sydney Medical Practice will participate in Close the Gap programs run by Medicare for our indigenous patients. We encourage our patients who identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander to let us know so that we can best help you manage your health.

We acknowledge the traditional custodians of the land on which our practice now stands. We pay our respects to Elders past and present.
